Snyder Texas Wedding.Eric and Whitney

You gotta love Texas on a super hot day-not really, but I did love Eric and Whitney's wedding! The image on the left is just one of the many great finds Whitney found as she explored for vintage, and antique pieces for their wedding decor. The image on the right is one of my favorites. They were giving each other their gifts and Whitney teared up as she opened the heart shaped locket Eric had given her.

Clovis Portrait Photographer.DeGodt Family

This is my beautiful friend Adrienne, and her beautiful family. They live in California and I barely get to see her, so when we scheduled her session for last month I was very excited. Adrienne is one hot momma...please refrain from being jealous as you look at her family shoot below. They are all super models and don't take a bad picture. Seriously! I am proud to say I did about 5 % editing on these images. Majority of them are straight out of the camera (sooc)-for the photog peeps. This photo shoot was so sweet for me, because its was like shooting for family. Adrienne is one of my dearest, and bestest friends. We go way back, and have been through lots together. In my mind as I was shooting, all I could think was, "I want to give them something so memorable, so sweet, and something I would totally want for me and my boys."I love this family dearly and I am so excited for you to scroll down and see there family shoot.

Clovis Portrait Photographer.Delaney Family

I have been a little absent lately from the blog, but thats what happens when you are a full time photographer as well as a full time mommy to a little boy who doesn't have daycare in the summer :) PLUS, he is so much fun its hard to pull away from him and get down to business and do work. Just wanted to explain why I have been MIA. Now, on to the Delaney family...

We collaborated ideas over the phone, and through pinterest.com and came up with this cute little shoot for them. I look at these pictures and think, "I would so love this for me and my boys."

Maggie and Micah.Clovis Wedding Photographer

Update*A testimonial from Maggie: "We LOVED working with you...could not have chosen a better photographer for such a fun time. Thank you so much, I love every single shot!" Thank you Lord for the gorgeous day. Thank you Maggie and Micah for being a stunning couple and so easy to work with and photograph.

Maggie and Micah met while they were both attending Texas Tech University and will be getting married in July. Congrats to you two :)

One of the things I loved about this couple is they would laugh together, flirt with one another, and became so natural in front of the camera. I mean, look at them...they look so great together!

I am so blessed to have sweet friends like Aimee. She recently reminded me that I introduced her and her hubby back in college and I'm so glad I did, because now they have this wonderful little girl. They live in Austin so I don't get to see them much, but when I do its like we never skipped a beat. Aimee is so creative. I mean SO creative, and blessed with awesome talent. This girl works for FOSSIL, and recently made my fabulous Cristy Cross Photography tees. She is a wonderful wife, and mom and I love her dearly. So, for her session I wanted to do something creative, something I haven't done before. So I called the guy with the VW bus (as the owner calls it) and I new this would be perfect for her.  We went to the field across from the Windmill Museum for a forest look and parked the bus.  It fit my idea perfectly and Aimee and her family matched it so well. Thanks to Linda Schilberg for helping out that day and thanks to Bill-the owner of the bus for letting us use it.

Check out Aimee's blog, Olive and Pearl. You will find quirky handmade goods and ideas to inspire!

Clovis Wedding Photographer.Whitney and Eric

This was my first trip to Indiana. There were barns everywhere and not just itty bitty barns. I'm talking HUGE barns with lots of beautiful land. Its a whole different kind of life in Columbus, IN.Eric and Whitney flew me out to Indiana for their engagement shoot and I am so grateful to them. I had a lovely adventure. We stumbled upon this old house, which had lots of unique features. One of them being a really cool greenhouse (my favorite) I am excited to be shooting their wedding in June-just a month away! Thanks Whitney and Eric for allowing me to be apart of this awesome time in your life.

Natalie.Lubbock Portrait Photographer

Artist Bio: My name is Cristy Cross and I am a photographer. For the last five years I have operated a business called Cristy Cross Photography based out of Clovis, New Mexico. My journey to become a photographer/business owner has been such a blessing. Growing up in West Texas I was always interested in art and creativity. My interest in photography started in high school. Following high school, I enrolled in college and obtained a degree in photography from Texas Tech University. My work as a photographer has allowed me to travel much of the country and broaden my horizon. At Cristy Cross Photography, I provide photography services for weddings, high school senior portraits, family sessions, commercial work, etc.

Statement of Work:

Thank you for visiting my “PRETEND” exhibit. As you look around the gallery, I hope that you find joy in my work. The ideas for these pictures have come to me through childhood memories. As a child, we create dreamy ideas, whimsical moments and pretend we are something we are not. These are memories that make me smile and inspire me. You see, I have always loved to pretend. I had a box of “play clothes” that contained magical items (mostly my Mom’s outfits from her younger days). I would dress in high heels, shaws, dresses and hats. Many days I was a princess or a flowerchild or sometimes I just wanted to wear them while I played in the mud. Fast forward to my adult years and I find myself wanting to recreate some of these memories, by asking my friends if they will dress up and pretend with me. The “pretend” project started with the Gypsy series, then came the Hippie, Alice in Wonderland and finally Bohemian Bride. Each character has pieces of me and is in some way a throw back to my pretend time as a child. Doing these photo shoots gave me the opportunity to further tune my photography skills. It was also a fun outlet to exercise creativity. Each shoot took significant set up time, most notable in the Alice in Wonderland series. I received much help and support during these shoots and I thank all that were involved.

Thank you Gina Shelley, and Clovis Community College for the honor and for asking me to present my work in your gallery.

A Successful Family Session.Clovis Portrait Photographer

Family sessions are so awesome! They are action packed and full of energy. My most favorite family sessions are ones where families are having fun, and showing love with kisses and hugs.Watch this video to get tips and learn a few tricks for family shoots.

(sorry it is a little out of focus. I am firing my camera guy soon-me)

Ideas for family sessions: Fly a kite together cuddle eating ice cream-messy, but really cute...save this one for the end popsicles hoola-hoops chase hide and seek sneak attack on dad kissing and hugging

And when I mention that I will be hungry after the shoot, I'm not saying to feed me your snacks :) In saying that, it all depends on what ya bring :)

Brief history of barn/church-- The Moye Chapel was moved to its existing location in 1915. Land on which the church was originally built was owned by Dick Moye-hence the name, Moye Chapel. Dick Moye was an early sheriff of Curry County, New Mexico. He wore a handle bar mustache, a big black cowboy hat, with his pants tucked in his tall black boots. His picture is still int the sheriff's office of the Curry County Courthouse along with other early law officers. The Moye Chapel was used as a church and community social center but never a school. The church held many after church picnics, ice cream socials and singings. The chapel was moved to its existing location after being purchased for 300 dollars and then began being used as a hay barn. The old church was moved on iron wheel dollies about 18" high, 4 wheels on each dolly with 8 wheels on each side of the building. Four head of horses on the cable that ran block and tackle and four head of horses on the anchor wagon. Later a shed was built on the church barn out of an old dance hall and parts of old box cars. The old barn chapel has stood for many years and has been a popular subject for artists and photographers as well as still serving a useful purpose as a barn.

Woodland Fairytale spin on Cake Pops.Clovis Wedding Photographer

Ya know those cute cake pops from Starbucks? Well, a couple of years ago my friend introduced me to cake balls, or as we called them "baby cakes". They are this yummy goodness rolled up into a tiny little ball full of flavor. So delicious, and so sweet. And they are exactly like the cake pops, but with a stick, and since they are such a craze right now, I wanted to try and make them myself. I also gathered my ideas from Family Circle magazine. They had the cutest ideas to decorate a woodland fairytale birthday party. One of the ideas was red frosted cupcakes with white candies on top to look like a little mushroom. And since I wanted to make cake pops, and loved the woodland idea, I decided to mesh them together.

Cake Pops are good for: bridal/wedding showers family and friends with sweet tooth baby showers kids Easter party Sunday School birthday parties

Here is the recipe I followed.
