Albuquerque, New Mexico family

I love visiting Albuquerque. We used to call it "home". We lived there for three years while Ben went to the University of New Mexico Law School. It is a beautiful city and I miss the scenery, but not so much the traffic. I sometimes crave bagels from Einstein's. And the thing I miss the most is the 5k trail around the Academy School. It brings back great memories of my quiet times with God as I pushed myself to run the entire 3.3 miles. I'll be honest though, I haven't done that in a very LONG LONG time. So, while we were in Albuquerque back in February I had a session with the Boyd family. They have a precious little girl who gets lots of love from her parents AND grandparents. Thats a baby who is loved :)

Morrow Family. Clovis, NM Family Photographer

The Morrow family, oh how we love the Morrow family. Katy is so creative. Take a look at these pictures and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Another creative, fun family. I was really excited when Sara told me she was bringing hula-hoops to the session. It made the parents get out of their comfort zone and let the kids be crazy if they wanted to. My family has become good friends with this family over this past year and they are a blessing to have as friends. Sara and I Zumba together too.

New Mexico Photographer.I love organization

This is the fourth time I've photographed the Morrow's and everytime is wonderful. I love working with Katy because she is so organized and plans out every detail, making my job easy for me to concentrate on taking the pictures. Their little boy turned one in February and here is one sneak peek for you.More to come after next week. I will be going out of town to Vegas for a photo conference. I'm very excited to see some friends, but it will be hard this time because I have Ben and Benson staying behind. Also, my grandma is very very sick and has been in the hospital for about two weeks now. Please keep her in your prayers.

And yesterday I had a session with one of the sweetest little boys.  He would hug on me and climb up in my lap while I was taking his pictures.  Such a sweet heart.  He reminded me of my little BB.

Morris Family.Sneak Peek New Mexico Photographer

Yesterday I had an awesome family session. They brought hula-hoops and wiggled their hips. It was way fun! Mike (husband/dad) even said he had fun and never wants to go back to a studio with someone posing them again. I think I succeeded when you hear that comment coming from the dad :) Thanks Morris family. More later...

Aimee, Mike and sweet Meryl.Dallas Photographer

Let me just say that I LOVE this family. Aimee is so sweet and dear to me. We grew up together in Texas, painting our toenails like water melons, going to church camp together, and crafting it up in the summer sewing shirts for the 4th of July.Back in November I was able to see Aimee, Mike and Meryl (meeting Meryl for the first time). And I had the pleasure of photographing their family for two days. I LOVED it. I just hung out with them and had my camera with me to snap shots in a laid back atmosphere. While Meryl selpt, Aimee and I went to Anthropologie twice. And THEN, Mike made us a very delicious breakfast. Can you say monkey bread! Oh it was so so so good :)

Take a look at the mobile Aimee made for Meryl's room. Everything Aimee touches turns to a fabulous peice of creativeness. She and her sister are some of the most creative people I know ;)

The Tuls Family.New Mexico Photographer

I met the Tuls Family when we were doing baby dedication day at our church almost two years ago. (her youngest and Benson are the same age) I was blessed to get to know them even better when I took family pictures back in November. This family consists of seven boys (this includes dad) and momma Tuls :) Being the only lady in the house doesn't stop her from being a sweet, tender, feminine gal. Everytime I see momma Tuls she is dressed so cute and looks so beautiful. I only have one little one and struggle with getting a shower and putting on makeup and curling my hair for that matter, so I think I need to take some pointers from her on how she does it.I so enjoyed being with this family and I've been blessed by them ever since meeting them. Thanks Tuls family for an awesome session!

Looking back on 2009

I started looking back on all of my 2009 weddings and sessions and I just want to say a HUGE thank you to all of my clients and friends who supported me in 2009. I've grabbed some 30 plus favorites, but I want you to know that I have 100s. I would list all of them, but the dishes in the sink are calling my name and they HAVE to get done :)Enjoy some of my favorites from 2009 and again, thank you all so much for a blessed year.

You can also see some of my most favorites in the flash header at the top of my blog! And feel free to take a look through my archives of 2009.

Jacob.Texas Baby. New Mexico Photographer

The thing about a small town is you realize that everyone is related. Jacob is cousins with the Douma's and the other Tuls family.  So fun! And not only that, but I took pictures of all three families in the same weekend. Totally not planned either :)Here is sweet Jacob, a sweet 9 month old baby whom I might add is very stylish thanks to his beautiful mom.

My Sister.Texas Photographer

*Update: Here is a little note Danica wrote on her blog: "Our dear friend and sister, Cristy Cross, took our pictures last week. We had SUCH a blast doing them too. When she put some up on her blog, I called her and we both ended up in tears! I think it was just overwhelming to see how Cristy captured all the elements of our family - quirky, fun, loving, and enamored with God's world. It was also so overwhelming to see the kids and how big they are, and especially to see our feet next to a picture of Russia. It just hit me, the verse from Romans, that talks about how beautiful the feet are of the ones who bring the good news of Jesus Christ to those around them. It is a special picture because we pray every night that God would use us to reach everyone around us, whether it be our neighbors across the street or our "neighbors" around the world. We are trying to raise our kids with a real consciousness that they are a part of a big world, with many people, who God pursues with His great and relentless love. Thanks, sis, for such a special time! These pictures mean so much to us." Okay okay! So this session was SUPER special for me. This family is my second family. Danica has been my big sister ever since I was a junior in high school. She and her sister took me in as a little sister (and I have no sisters so I loved it). She fulfilled my dream of having a sister :) Not only that, but she has been a great big sister and a wonderful role model for me. Her and her husband Greg, have been so inspiring to Ben and I and we love them so much. They were missionaries for Campus Crusade for Christ in Russia for many years and I didn't get to see her much and now she lives almost 2 hours away rather than 26 hrs (or whatever the distance was). I know she misses Russia, but I am gonna be selfish here and say I don't want them to go back :) But God does what he does and I'm cool with that. There kids call us Aunt Cristy and Uncle Ben, and sometimes Benson's mom and dad. We love there kids and we love that our kids love to play with each other. Recently we've been over and joined in on dance parties that consist of all three kids and all four adults. Max (their little boy) has got some mad skills! And little Marlys and Benson do their cute baby dances.

As I was working on these images I kept wanting to call Danica saying, 'Oh you're gonna love this one." And I'd talk myself out of it because if I just kept going then she'd get to see them sooner. But then I'd work on the next one and wanted to call her again. I started tearing up when I was looking at the close up shot of her and Greg, because it was so sweet and SO them.

Okay, well I better publish these so you can all see them! Love love love these with all of my heart.

White Christmas.The Hamiltons.New Mexico Photography

We've had this family scheduled for about a month or two in advance. The day finally came and it started snowing. I was a little nervous about the weather, but excited too because I don't get to take pictures in the snow very often in Clovis, NM. It's normally cold and windy, but no snow. When I was greeted so sweetly by their youngest girl I was excited for the fun we would have. In just seconds of talking to me, the three year old asked my name and in response to me she said, "thats a pretty name". I mean, what a sweetheart, right! The girls clothes are from the Gap (I love my comfy sweater, I love my comfy sweater. How cute are these boots, how cute are these boots) I SO think they need to do some modeling with their kiddos ;) Thanks Hamilton family for such a fun time! I can't wait to show you the rest, but Christmas card orders, and wedding albums, and phone calls and emails, and oh my family are calling my name :) More to come...

There momma worked hard on their outfits and I think she did an awesome job. I would LOVE to have all of their shoes and maybe even the tights.Pretty darn cute group of girls if I do say so myself. I love this family and I loved this session. It couldn't have been a more perfect session with the gorgemous yellow leaves. Take a looksy at my picks...
