Morris Family.Sneak Peek New Mexico Photographer

Yesterday I had an awesome family session. They brought hula-hoops and wiggled their hips. It was way fun! Mike (husband/dad) even said he had fun and never wants to go back to a studio with someone posing them again. I think I succeeded when you hear that comment coming from the dad :) Thanks Morris family. More later...

Benson Is TWO!

This past weekend we celebrated Benson's 2nd birthday party, Polar Bear style.  The reason for a polar bear party: he sleeps with a stuffed polar bear, and calls it PB.  He loves it dearly and doesn't go far with out it. (picture below) Family and friends made it a wonderful time for us and Benson. He was SO excited for the first group of people, and even pulled chairs out for the ladies. (no lie!) Then the second group of peeps came and he got a little emotional. I don't think he knew what to do with all these people in his house. And then by the time everyone was there he was SO excited. All the kids played with Benson's toys and the adults watched and visited. He LOVED the cake and he wasn't the only one. Details of the cake: Made by Kerri Davis- Clovis, NM (thank you) Polar Bear Cake-made from vanilla cake with buttercream frosting polar bears legs and iceberg-made from rice krispy treats with buttercream frosting (MY FAVORITE)

It makes us sad and happy that he is getting older.  Sad because he isn't our little baby anymore (even though we still call him that) and happy that he is growing and learning so many new things each day.

Words he says:

I wuv oo

kiss

hug

Chevy and Bailey (our dogs)

I hungby (hungry)

I happy

ow-side

pay (play)

meek (milk)

nie-nie (night night)

PB and BB (polar bear and blanket)

djooce (juice)

cheese for mac-m-chz

And someone, I honestly don't know who because I can guarantee I didn't teach him this, is he says cheese when you take his picture.  I'm thinking MDO or Children's Center taught him.  And let me just say, I have a bone to pick with you people.

Max

Cooz (Cruz)

He counts too!

Sings Itsy Bitsy Spider and loves the woosh part

Cow

Horse

puppy

monkey

And these are just a few.  His vocabulary is growing and growing and he shows us love like we never knew.

Benson, mommy and daddy love you so much!  Thanks for all the singing and dancing and constant hugs. muaw muaw.

Encouragement

I just received this email today and wanted to say thank you to Amy-Rose.  It was very encouraging to me and makes me  happy to know someone is praying blessings over me. "Hey-I just discovered your website through another photographer friend who keeps up with your stuff.  I just want to say how much I've enjoyed your work.  I pray God continues to bless you in all that you do.  Thanks for the inspiration and fresh sense of style!

Amy-Rose"

Because of Benson

Many reasons for why I love this picture:The handcrafted newspaper backdrop Colors of the flowers and books The way her leg is bent just a bit Bright and color Anthropologie rug Most of all though, I love this picture because this is her honest reaction when her mom said, "act like Benson gave those flowers to you." And that just touched my heart. I'm even tearing up now. Our baby boy turns two tomorrow and I couldn't be happier, but at the same time sad that he is growing so fast. We have been unbelievably blessed with our mini-Ben. gv_6159cblog

Sarah.McKinney, Tx Bride. Texas Photographer [full post]

The full post...Sarah's wedding theme was "vintage".  I think she created that beautifully with her dress, hair, jewelry and makeup. We went to Chestnut Square in McKinney, Tx for part of her bridal shoot.  We had Sarah's hair stylist with us and it was so nice.  She fixed Sarah's hair several different ways with different flowers in her hair.  I was spoiled having her there!  It made me  wish I had a stylist for ALL of my sessions.

Tonight after Benson went to sleep I sat at my computer editing through some images from Sarah's bridal session back in November. I have about 20 something images to share and I can't wait to do that tomorrow. So, stay tuned and have a great night.sc_1033blog

Family and Art

Back in January we visited my grandma in Tahoka, Tx for our annual New Years Mexican Stacks get-together. I took my camera along with me because I haven't been to Tahoka in several years. I grew up there and have some fond memories of the very small town. While Ben and Benson took a nap, I ventured out and about the Tahoka roads to find some lovely treasures that only a small town can offer. I also haven't posted any pictures of Ben lately. So here is one of my recent favorites that was taken in Tahoka. I am trying to gather up pictures of all three of us individually to create a 9-8x8 canvas collage in our living room and this is one of them. img_5838b

Star of the Month.Aimee

Aimee and I go way back. Way way back. We grew up together at church when we were elementary school age, were in each others weddings, and have been friends ever since. Now we get to watch each other grow as a family.I chose Aimee as the Star of the Month (or Star of every 3-months because I haven't done it in a while), because she has left tons of comments on my blog and she also inspires me and encourages me as a friend and as an artist. She too is quite the creative gal. She just recently stopped working as a handbag designer for Fossil to be a mommy to her and her husbands sweet baby girl.  The two purses I've carried for 2 years have been from her.  She also is a great illustrator with stationaries and press printed items.  She sews, screen prints, and decorates.  You can check out her blog here and stay up on the latest styles.

Aimee, Mike and sweet Meryl.Dallas Photographer

Let me just say that I LOVE this family. Aimee is so sweet and dear to me. We grew up together in Texas, painting our toenails like water melons, going to church camp together, and crafting it up in the summer sewing shirts for the 4th of July.Back in November I was able to see Aimee, Mike and Meryl (meeting Meryl for the first time). And I had the pleasure of photographing their family for two days. I LOVED it. I just hung out with them and had my camera with me to snap shots in a laid back atmosphere. While Meryl selpt, Aimee and I went to Anthropologie twice. And THEN, Mike made us a very delicious breakfast. Can you say monkey bread! Oh it was so so so good :)

Take a look at the mobile Aimee made for Meryl's room. Everything Aimee touches turns to a fabulous peice of creativeness. She and her sister are some of the most creative people I know ;)
